Abstract

Background and aims: Today, robotic technology has expanded its applications from industry to clinical and rehabilitation, pediatric and geriatric nursing, relief operations, etc. For robotics to function successfully, it is necessary to upgrade to a new level of capability, physical skills, and intellectual and cognitive capabilities. The aim of this study is the use of robotics in care and treatment environments. Method: This study was written in 2024-2025 according to the PRISMA guidelines. Keywords included robotics, care and treatment, patients, and hospital staff. A search was conducted in Persian and English databases, including CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Medline, Irandoc, Magiran, and SID, between June 2010 and March 2025. Articles in the fields of treatment, intensive care, and rehabilitation were included in the study and analyzed. Results: In this study, 11 relevant articles were finally selected and reviewed. The most common use of robotics was in the field of remote presence in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Robots were beneficial in providing shorter response times, early interventions, and in reducing patient mortality. The challenges of the remote presence of robots include financial and legal barriers. The use in rehabilitation and in patient assessment through ultrasound assessment, or sending ECG from ambulances to medical centers resulted in satisfactory results and saved time and increased efficiency, and in the distribution and delivery of drugs, they increased efficiency and saved costs. All robots had technological limitations and indirect treatment costs. Conclusion: The use of robotic technology in treatment, care, and rehabilitation environments can be a useful and effective intervention for the medical team, providing significant benefits for patients, hospital staff, and ultimately treatment organizations.
