Background and aims: The advancement of new technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the precise control and monitoring of the condition of patients, especially patients with asthma. This technology provides doctors and patients with vital information in real time using smart sensors and connected devices. This study aims to investigate the application of the Internet of Things in asthma management. Method: In this study, a comprehensive search was conducted in three databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase) from 2015 to 2025 using keywords related to Internet of Things and asthma. The analysis of titles, abstracts, and full texts of articles was performed independently based on the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) guidelines. Results: Seventeen articles were included in the study based on the inclusion criteria. nine articles focused on remote monitoring of asthma patients, four articles on patient self-management, and four other articles on asthma attack prediction using artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. In these studies, the Internet of Things has been proposed as a key tool for collecting vital data (arterial pressure, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, and body temperature), air quality data (atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, and dust concentration), recording patient symptoms, medication consumption, and tracking patient activities using smart sensors, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The results of these studies indicate the high potential of the Internet of Things in improving asthma management and control, especially in the field of continuous and accurate monitoring of asthma patients. Conclusion: The use of IoT in the management of asthma patients is very useful, especially for patients in remote areas and the elderly who may have limited access to medical services. These systems can act as a communication bridge between patients and doctors and enable rapid and effective decision-making by sending vital data in real time.
