Background: The discovery of new drugs represents one of the most challenging stages in the pharmaceutical industry. Traditionally, this process could take several years; however, with the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), it has entered a new era where advanced algorithms and machine learning have brought unprecedented transformations in speed and accuracy. AI not only accelerates the identification of drug compounds but also guides the development of new drugs in a more targeted manner by predicting their effects and potential side effects. Materials and Methods: This review study was conducted based on a search of articles from reliable databases, including PubMed and Google Scholar, using keywords such as artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, and novel technologies within the time frame of 2015–2025. The initial search yielded seven articles, five of which met the inclusion criteria. The PICO framework guided the search approach in this research. Results: The ability of AI to identify new drug compounds enables the rapid analysis of complex biological and chemical data, leading to the discovery of compounds with high therapeutic potential. A notable example is the use of the Atomwise platform, which successfully identified new compounds for treating diseases such as Ebola. In this process, AI examined the molecular structures of potential drugs and identified compounds that might interact with the Ebola virus, achieving results much faster than traditional methods. This example demonstrates how modern technologies can accelerate the discovery of critical drugs. Conclusion: Artificial intelligence has brought about a remarkable transformation in the discovery of new drugs, reducing time and costs while increasing accuracy and the likelihood of success. This progress enables patients to access effective and innovative treatments more quickly, paving the way for a brighter future in pharmaceutical science and contributing to saving human lives.
