Abstract
Background and Aims: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare has led to significant advancements in medical diagnostics, treatment planning, patient care, and administrative processes. However, these innovations are accompanied by complex challenges in policymaking, regulation, and healthcare management. This paper explores the intersection of AI, health policy, and management, focusing on regulatory frameworks, ethical concerns, data privacy, and the future outlook of AI in healthcare. Method: The study examines international and national regulatory approaches, including the EU’s GDPR and the US FDA guidelines, as well as the evolving roles of governments and institutions in funding AI research and shaping policy. Ethical issues such as algorithmic bias, transparency, informed consent, and data security are analyzed. Furthermore, the paper investigates strategic management practices for integrating AI into existing health systems, workforce transformation, and organizational change management. Results: Key findings highlight the need for standardized certification processes to ensure the safety and effectiveness of AI tools in healthcare. Ethical implementation requires addressing bias, ensuring transparency, and securing patient consent. Data privacy remains a major concern due to the sensitive nature of medical information. On the managerial side, successful AI adoption depends on effective system integration, upskilling of health professionals, and managing institutional change. Financial, operational, and social challenges, including public trust and job displacement, also impact AI deployment. Conclusion: AI has transformative potential in healthcare, but its success depends on the development of robust regulatory frameworks, ethical safeguards, and strategic management plans. Collaborative efforts among governments, healthcare providers, and technology developers are essential to realize AI’s benefits while minimizing its risks.
