Background and aims: Today, the advancement of artificial intelligence in the management of ill patients has revolutionized the intensive care units. This new technology can play an effective role in monitoring patients. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the role of artificial intelligence-based clinical assistants in nursing intensive care. Method: This research is a review study that was conducted by searching the Google scholar PubMed, Science Direct bases with a time limit (2022-2025). We reviewed the articles in three stages: title review, abstract study, and full-text study. We removed unrelated articles, finally selecting 11 for review, extracting the relevant information. Results: Today, software or devices that use artificial intelligence to automate tasks, monitor patients, provide alarms, and offer nursing recommendations are called artificial intelligence-based clinical assistants in nursing care. Artificial intelligence has demonstrated promise that artificial intelligence plays an important role in monitoring, early detection, and customization of care in intensive care units. Several studies highlight the benefits of using this new technology, particularly in the ongoing monitoring of vital signs and early identification of serious diseases, including organ failure, sepsis, and other problems in patients who have been hospitalized. Deep neural network-based artificial intelligence is capable of predicting sepsis with a 92% accuracy and 85% sensitivity. In addition, artificial intelligence can play an effective role in personalizing the care performed by fine-tuning doses of vasopressor drugs and mechanical ventilation parameters. Conclusion: When applied as a supplement to clinical judgment rather than as a replacement for it, artificial intelligence has demonstrated promise in improving clinical outcomes, lowering mortality, and personalizing the care of sick patients in critical care units.
