Background and Aims: Artificial intelligence (AI) is a technology which enables the intervention of computers and machines in different aspects of human life. This technology is designed to aid in faster and more accurate achievement of scientists to the required data, information and analysis. The scientists of pharmaceutical science have applied AI in different steps of their researches to design and formulate new pharmaceutical formulations and technologies. Since drug development is a complex, high cost and time consuming process, application of new technologies is important for better, faster and more accurate information achievements. It can be considered that application of AI in research and development was a revolution in the field of drug discovery and formulation. The great amount of biological, medical, pharmaceutical and clinical data has provided a foundation for employment of AI in drug discovery. This review provides a brief information on different pharmaceutical databases applied in AI and their importance in new drug discovery. Method: Articles from valid journals with the relevant topic and information were discovered from data bases, including “science direct” and “national library of medicine”. In the first step, the articles published before 2018 were removed from the review process. Next, the articles providing more accurate information were choosed and the review went through. Results: Drug development is a complex process requiring adequate information on drug targets, different characteristics of drug and chemical molecules, possible interactions between drugs and chemical compounds, possible drug-target interactions, etc. Databases involving chemical composition and structure and other characteristics of drugs and chemical compounds are ChEMBL. PubChem, DrugBank, DrugMap, ChemDB, etc. Data bases providing information on possible drug-target interactions are Drug Target Commons (DTC), DGIdb, etc. more databases and the specific character of each one is further explained in this article. Conclusion: In conclusion, different literatures have declared the importance of data bases applied in AI for drug discovery. Based on the available pharmaceutical and chemical data bases, new AI techniques can be investigated and created to enhance the progress of drug development.
