Background and aims: Virtual Reality (VR) has emerged as a transformative technology in various fields, including healthcare. By creating immersive, interactive, and simulated environments, VR offers innovative solutions for medical training, patient treatment, and rehabilitation. This review explores the applications of VR in the health domain, highlighting its potential to improve outcomes and enhance the quality of care. The aim of this review is to examine the current applications of VR in healthcare, assess its effectiveness, and identify future directions for research and implementation. Method: A comprehensive literature search was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and IEEE Explore. Keywords included "virtual reality," "healthcare," "medical training," and "patient rehabilitation." Studies published between 2015 and 2023 were included, focusing on clinical trials, reviews, and case studies. Results: VR has been successfully applied in several healthcare areas: 1. Medical Training: VR provides realistic simulations for surgical training, improving skills and reducing risks. 2. Patient Treatment: It is used in pain management, exposure therapy for phobias, and treatment of PTSD. 3. Rehabilitation: VR aids in physical and cognitive rehabilitation, enhancing motor skills and mental health. 4. Medical Education: VR offers immersive learning experiences for students and professionals. Conclusion: VR holds significant promise in revolutionizing healthcare by providing innovative solutions for training, treatment, and rehabilitation. However, challenges such as high costs and technical limitations need to be addressed. Future research should focus on optimizing VR technologies and expanding their applications in diverse healthcare settings.
