Background and aims: Diabetes is the most common endocrine disorder affecting more than 100 million people worldwide. Given that the care provided to diabetic patients falls far short of the standards of patient care and this gap has imposed significant costs on the country's health system, this article focuses on various aspects of artificial intelligence in the management and care of diabetic patients, its future promises, and challenges. Method: The present study is a review article that conducted a PubMed search combining the terms artificial intelligence, diabetes, and care to review the role of artificial intelligence in the care of diabetic patients. Results: Recent advances in digital health technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, offer significant opportunities to achieve greater efficiency in diabetes care. Studies in this area highlight the potential of AI to improve the management of diabetes and related metabolic disorders through personalized nutrition and lifestyle modification. The role of AI in analyzing vast amounts of data, from dietary patterns to gut microbiome composition, enables the creation of highly personalized dietary recommendations. Conclusion: Analysis and review of various articles showed that the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence along with medical knowledge can have a positive impact on the prediction, diagnosis, control and care of diseases such as diabetes. Artificial intelligence has the potential to optimize diabetes care by providing personalized, accurate and data-driven support to patients and healthcare professionals. Given the increasing importance of artificial intelligence methods for diabetes management and care, it is suggested that in a developing country like Iran, the use of artificial intelligence techniques, especially in the field of diabetes management and care, be expanded and this technique be used at different levels of health.
