Background and Aims: Effective hospital management relies on continuous performance evaluation to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery. The Pabon Lasso model is a well-established tool for assessing hospital performance through indicators such as bed occupancy rate and average length of stay. Nevertheless, complexities in data analysis may limit the model’s comprehensive utility. The present study aims to explore the opportunities and challenges associated with incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into the Pabon Lasso model for the enhancement of hospital management. Method: This study is a descriptive review of scientific literature, published management reports, and research articles related to the application of AI within the Pabon Lasso framework. Relevant information was systematically collected from scientific databases and available managerial documentation. Content analysis was employed to synthesize and interpret the findings. Results: The integration of AI with the Pabon Lasso model may provide considerable benefits, including improved accuracy in forecasting patient admissions, more efficient allocation of hospital resources, and real-time monitoring of key performance indicators. Nonetheless, barriers such as inconsistent data quality, significant initial investment requirements, and organizational resistance to technological change persist as major challenges to effective implementation. Conclusion: Applying AI to the Pabon Lasso model has the potential to enhance hospital performance management; however, achieving these benefits is contingent upon addressing issues related to data integrity, financial resources, and adoption of new technologies by healthcare personnel.
