Introduction: The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a network of interconnected, wireless devices that gather and store data, thereby eliminating the need for direct human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. In light of the critical role that modern technologies play in hospitals and healthcare facilities, this study explores the diverse applications of IoT within these settings. Method: The present study was a scoping review conducted in March 2025. the valid databases such as PubMed and Scopus, utilizing search strategy (((iot) OR (“internet of things”)) AND (“hospitals”)) OR (“hospital”))) was searched. In an initial review of databases, a total of 358 articles were retrieved. After removing the duplicate and irrelevant items based on the evaluation of the titles, abstracts and full texts, 10 articles were selected. The relevant data was extracted from this original research articles and summarized. Finding: A total of 10 articles were included in the study. The application of IoT had been introduced by 8 articles. The positive impact of the application of IoT systems on reducing hospital infections, saving time, and improving the quality of health services had been examined in 3, 4, and 2 articles, respectively. The findings reveal that IoT can be effectively implemented across various hospital departments, with notable applications including the reduction of errors through IoT platforms, the development of proactive healthcare management systems in smart hospitals, and the use of RFID-enabled wristbands for accurate patient identification. Furthermore, IoT facilitates nurse call systems that enhance communication between patients and caregivers, contributes to infection control and the establishment of safer medical environments, and enables access to real-time data and location information via IoT sensors. The installation of these sensors throughout hospitals aids in efficient patient tracking. Conclusion: The integration of IoT systems within hospitals significantly enhances healthcare quality and improves patient outcomes. This technology also presents opportunities for bolstering device and database security in healthcare environments. Overall, IoT is increasingly recognized for its potential to boost efficiency in hospitals and healthcare centers, paving the way for more effective and responsive patient care.
