Abstract
Background and Aims: This study investigates the relationship between nurses' perception of artificial intelligence (AI) and their job satisfaction in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting in Bokan city. With the rapid integration of AI technologies in healthcare, it has become critical to understand how nursing professionals perceive these advancements and how such perceptions influence their job satisfaction. Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a sample of ICU nurses, employing validated questionnaires to assess their understanding of AI and levels of job satisfaction. The Artificial Intelligence Understanding Questionnaire (AIUQ) was utilized to evaluate nurses' knowledge and application of AI, consisting of 15 items across three categories: knowledge of AI concepts, application in nursing, and attitudes toward AI. Job satisfaction was measured using the Job Satisfaction Scale (JSS), comprising 20 items focusing on work environment, role clarity, professional relationships, and career development opportunities. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Pearson’s correlation coefficient assessed the relationship between the understanding of AI and job satisfaction, while linear regression analysis determined the predictive value of AI understanding on job satisfaction scores, controlling for confounding variables. Results: The analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between nurses' understanding of AI and their job satisfaction. Specifically, enhanced understanding of AI was associated with higher levels of job satisfaction among the nurses. Conclusion: The findings indicate that improving nurses’ understanding of artificial intelligence can contribute to greater job satisfaction in ICU environments. Focusing on education and increasing awareness of AI among nursing professionals may serve as an effective strategy for enhancing care quality and job satisfaction.
