Abstract

Background and aims: With the advancement of digital technologies, digital health has become a key field in enhancing the quality of healthcare and improving patient outcomes. In nursing care, where patient experience and satisfaction are considered essential indicators of care quality, digital tools offer new opportunities to foster communication, autonomy, and trust. This review aims to explore how digital health technologies influence patient experience and satisfaction within the context of nursing care. Method: A systematic literature review was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Studies focusing on the use of digital health tools—including telemedicine systems, mobile health apps, and patient self-management platforms—and their impact on patient experience and satisfaction with nursing care were selected and analyzed. Articles were screened based on scientific relevance, methodological rigor, and alignment with international healthcare standards. Results: Findings suggest that digital health technologies contribute positively to both patient experience and satisfaction in various care settings.Enhanced patient-nurse interaction was noted through secure messaging platforms and remote monitoring systems.Digital interventions such as self-management apps for chronic respiratory disease or remote care after transplant procedures increased patient engagement and reduced anxiety. Patients reported higher autonomy and confidence in managing their health, which contributed to greater satisfaction. However, challenges such as technical barriers, cost of implementation, and data privacy concerns were identified as limiting factors in broader adoption. Conclusion: Digital health solutions show strong potential in improving the overall experience of patients receiving nursing care and in raising satisfaction levels. To fully harness these benefits, healthcare providers must address current limitations by investing in infrastructure, training, and regulatory frameworks. Expanding the integration of digital tools into routine nursing care may lead to higher quality, more patient-centered services.
