Introduction: Today, the adoption of modern educational technologies and the use of artificial intelligence in domain-specific training (particularly in medicine) is of great interest. Midwifery in its nature being sensitive and life-dependent domain requires pragmatic and clinical teaching, building crisis management and problem-solving skills. Hence, it can get benefits by using AI applications in the students clinical training. Methods: The research employed a systematic review approach in order to study global perspectives of computer game based midwifery training. Data were collected by searching trusted scientific databases (PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar) using the following keywords: computer games, midwifery education, birth simulation, and interactive learning. The literature published between 2010 and 2023 that focused on the use of computer games in midwifery education was reviewed. Conclusion: The integration of computer games as an educational strategy has the capacity to revolutionise midwifery education. By participating in these games students face challenges that are possible to encounter in clinical practices but are rare, thus giving them experience managing some scenarios. The application of computer games improves student involvement, facilitates clinical skills, enables practiced repetitions in a none threatening environment, facilitates academic and preparation of emergency skills, provides viable distance learning, reduces anxiety and increases self-esteem. These games allow students to identify technical errors in a risk-free environment and sharpen their skills — without the anxiety of harming a patient. In addition, rehearsal can be done of delivery under special conditions, such as emergencies or mothers with specific medical conditions. Conclusion: Computer games have proven to be effective educational devices in midwifery education, providing an interactive and safe learning environment that helps students improve their clinical competence. Yet, challenges such as development costs, the need for teacher training, and technological limitations still exist.
