Abstract
Background and aims: Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. The complexity of the nasal structure and the substantial aesthetic and functional impact of the operation make rhinoplasty very challenging, this review explores the potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in rhinoplasty. Method: A systematic review of review studies was conducted by searching the keywords (rhinoplasty and AI, Artificial intelligence) in the title abstract in Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed scientific databases on November 28, 2024. In this study, the Guidelines and Preferred Items of Systematic Review Studies (PRISMA) were followed. The quality of the studies was assessed using the JBI checklist. Studies with a score higher than 7 were analyzed. Studies that looked at the use of artificial intelligence technology in rhinoplasty whose full text was available in English were considered as inclusion criteria without time limit. Results: A total of 748 records were identified from databases. Among them, 54 records underwent eligibility screening. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 11 studies were deemed eligible and included in this review. Results shown that Machine learning and deep learning algorithms can analyze medical images, such as CT scans and 3D photographs, and accurately identify the complex anatomical structures of the nose. AI-based systems can also provide personalized tools for surgical design and comparing simulated results with real-world outcomes. Also, Artificial intelligence can provide real-time guidance to surgeons, ensuring the preservation of natural nasal structures during surgery. Conclusion: The use of artificial intelligence in rhinoplasty can significantly increase the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of these procedures and help surgeons optimize surgical techniques.
